How To Draw 8 For Walking
How To Benefit From Infinity Walk - 8-Shaped Walk
In my first post, I spoke about how the deficiency of vitamin D can be one of the causes for PCOS. I also spoke about how exposure to sunlight can benefit in increasing our vitamin D level. But if you have started walking or even exposing yourself to sunlight for 10-15 minutes a day, here is the next step.
We all know the benefits of walking regularly to keep ourselves fit. Thanks to all the information available to us via Google. But not all of us manage to do it on a regular basis due to various reasons such as time-constraint, space constraint, laziness etc.
So here is what you can do; do the infinity walk.
Infinity walk also known as 8 shape walk was designed in 1980's by Dr. Deborah Sunbeck. This infinity walk has also been practiced by our yogis in olden days.
Infinity walk in simple terms is walking in the shape of 8 just like you drive your two-wheeler to get a license. Yes, it's as simple as that. You can do this in your terrace, parking space, on the road, just outside your house or even in your hall if it is big enough.
People who can't take out enough time to go long distance walk or elderly people can do this very easily. Even you can encourage your child to do this as a fun activity. Ideally, you should do it on barefoot for better results.
What are the benefits of this infinity walk?
- Helps you improve your concentration as you focus on the number 8 shape
- Walking barefoot activates your acupressure points
- Since you walk in 8 shape your entire body twists and turns and all body parts get benefited
- It improves hand eye coordination
- Improves body balance. People with a knee problem, arthritis can benefit from this
- Regular practice for 1 year is known to provide relief from a headache, digestive problem, thyroid, obesity and constipation. It even regulates your blood flow and helps with diabetes control.
- It refreshes your mind and prepares you for day long work.
How exactly should you practice infinity walk?
- Use chalk or tape to draw 8 shape by joining 2 circles of approx 6 ft diameter each in a south-north direction. Worst case you can at least imagine 8 shape and walk.
- If you are doing it in your hall. Place 2 chairs 3 ft apart and walk between the chairs.
- Walk for 15 min in clockwise and 15 min in anti-clockwise
- Walk early morning or evening between 5-6 am / pm. If you are doing between 10 am to 3 pm for vitamin D then restrict it to 10-15 min as the sun will be too strong for a 30 min walk.
- Walk on an empty stomach if it's between 5-6 am / pm. don't walk too fast just a normal walk.
- Walk barefoot for best results
- For children- make it fun by showing flashcards of letters, number and words.
So what are you waiting for?
Start today and stay healthy.
Important- Please note in case you have high blood pressure, high diabetes or any other serious complication, please consult the doctor before doing this. Pregnant ladies shouldn't do this.
